Sporting Life
Experience the highs and lows of sporting rivalry at St Mary’s! There’s something for everyone. Don’t worry if you’re not overly competitive – the fact that St Mary’s is a smaller college means that you don’t have to be a superstar to make the College team. There are also many opportunities to try your hand at something new – and in the process, stay fit and healthy, have fun and form new friendships. And even if you’re not in the St Mary’s team, sporting events are fun social opportunities. Pull on your College Rugby top, grab your friends and cheer on St Mary’s in the following Intercollegiate Sporting Competition (ICSC) events:
Athletics | Badminton | Basketball |
Cricket | Football | Hockey |
Netball | Rowing | Soccer |
Softball | Squash | Swimming |
Table Tennis | Tennis | Volleyball |
You’ll also benefit from the ideal location of St Mary’s – right next door to the University’s sporting facilities, a one-minute walk away. What’s more, your College fees actually include unrestricted membership to Melbourne University Sport – this gives you privileged access to gym equipment, an indoor-heated 25m pool, and a wide range of group fitness classes, including pump, boxing and yoga. This means that you and your College friends can socialise, keep fit, and have fun without having to spend any extra money.
Do you prefer an invigorating fitness session outdoors? Look no further than the green and leafy nearby parklands: Princes Park is an easy 8-minute walk from St Mary’s, and Royal Park is slightly further. With plenty of tracks for cycling, jogging or walking, and wide-open spaces to kick the footy, you’ll return to College feeling healthy and refreshed!
